Sandeep Marwah Honored At 33rd Cairo International Film Festival

The renowned Asian Media Personality Sandeep Marwah, the President of Marwah Studios has been honored at 33rd Cairo International Film Festival and has been introduced to the World Cinema and its fraternity as the producer of largest number of short films in the World and President of one of the most successful film schools of the World.

Established since 1976, the Cairo International Film Festival is classified as a category “A” festival as recognized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producer’s Associations) and is undoubtedly the oldest and most important festival in the Middle East and has been an inspiration to several other budding festivals.

This year the CIFF has acknowledged its honored tradition and welcome the new generation of brilliant filmmakers from India by honoring Indian Cinema. The festival is from 10th to 20th November in Cairo and has been attended , by the whos who of cinema World including Salma Hayek, Samuel L. Jackson, Lucy Liu and Tom Berenger, who is also a member on the international jury.

"I am impressed by the wonderful gesture extended by the 33rd International Film Festival by giving so much space to Indian Cinema this time" said Sandeep Marwah while talking to the International press at Cairo. " I am sure this all will result into better relations between two countries and more business time to come." Marwah added
India And Egypt Will Work On Cultural Exchange
The renowned asian media personality, president of Marwah Studios Sandeep Marwah and well known international Indian star Anil Kapoor were recently invited by H.E. Dr Mohamed Higazy, the Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt in India to discuss the cultural exchange between two oldest civilizations of Earth.

“We are keen in developing and promoting cultures of India and Egypt where country men of both the countries can relate to each other comfortably” said H.E. Dr. Mohamed Higazy. “We want to open the doors of our country for Indian Art and Culture too.” He added.

“Films are the best Ambassador of culture of the country” said Sandeep Marwah the founder of film city and Director of AAFT. “Exchange of films, film festivals, and film personalities can bring in ample change in thinking and relation between two countries” added Marwah.
“I would love to be there at Egypt to represent my country India, and can do anything to built the relations between these two countries” said Anil Kapoor, who has become well known star internationally after the release of feature film Slum dog Millionaire which has bagged many awards including Oscars.

Sam Salem, the minister Counselor and Ms Dina el Sehy the counselor of Egyptian Embassy were also present there in the meeting.
 
Taiwan join hands with Marwah Studios For Film Festival
The Taipei Economic & Cultural Center in New Delhi has decided to have a cultural week of Taiwan at Noida Film City along with a festival of films in the first week of November. “We are ready with the cinema from Taiwan and also planning to have art exhibition at AAFT campus and a cultural show in this November” said Joy yen, the Director of Information Division , Taipei Economic & Cultural Center In New Delhi. “In contrast to the melodrama or kung-fu action films of the earlier decades, New Wave Taiwan films are known for their realistic, down-to-earth, and sympathetic portrayals of Taiwanese life. These films sought to portray genuine stories of people living either in urban or rural Taiwan, and are often compared stylistically to the films of the Italian neorealism movement.” Said Sandeep Marwah, president of Marwah Studios.. The Screening of the films will indeed to be a great learning experience for the students of cinema in our country” he added.
 
Director-Cinematographer Nadeem Khan At Marwah Studios
The renowned Cinematographer of well known films like Aawargi, Jurm, Gunah, Kasam Vardi Ki, Ek Bar Phir, Disco Dancer etc and Director of feature film Trichi Topi Wale Nadeem Khan who has been in Indian Film Industry for more than 30 years is here with the film students of Asian School Of Media Studies [Department Of Cinema] on the invitation of Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios, Noida Film City. “Sharing experience with students of Cinema is like spiritual activity for me” said Nadeem Khan while conducting five full day workshop at ASMS and AAFT.” I feel dividing your knowledge with young generation makes you feel more responsible towards the industry” added Nadeem. .Ashok Tyagi Dean [Cinema] has designed the workshop on Camera and lighting techniques for Cinema students and where H.O.D. Feroz Abbas Khan Visited Marwah Studios
Director of feature film Gandhi My Father Feroz Abbas Khan was at AAFT Asian Academy Of Film And Television to pay his gratitude to the institution for the untiring help extended by the students of the institution during the making of the film which has bagged 3 National Awards in recent announcement by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. “I am so thankful to Sandeep Marwah, the director of the institution for referring me the students of AAFT for my film when I was at Marwah Studios at the time of making of my first film venture” said Feroz Abbas Khan. Feroz Abbas Khan was talking to the students of 64th batch at Noida Film City, he referred the name of many students specially Gurmeet Singh who has been with him as First AD, Ridhima Pandey as Costume in charge and Pratikh Sapra as AD in feature film Gandhi My Father. “ I am impressed by the quality of education, the institute is imparting at AAFT as I need no more proof than the honest, hardworking and intelligent students who have worked with me.” added Feroz.

SHAKESPEARE SOCIETY ESTABLISHED AT AAFT
A visit to Stratford – upon Avon in the United Kingdom – the birthplace of the greatest English dramatist and poet of all times William Shakespeare – in August 2009 was indeed a pilgrimage for the stage artiste Sandeep Marwah. After paying his homage at the Shakespeare memorial and meeting with the members of the local Shakespeare Society, Sandeep Marwah has decided to include the works of this creative genius in the curriculum of the acting courses of Asian Academy of Film & Television and Asian School of Media Studies. A section in the Books Library of the media school would be dedicated to the text Shakespearean plays. Filmed and video recordings version of Shakespearean plays would also be prepared course of time by the faculty and students of AAFT.
 
Asian Business School Now represented by American Attorney in USA
Indo American Chamber Of Commerce joined hands with the American delegation to India consisting of 17 members under the leadership of Secretary of the state Sam Reed 14th Secretary of State of Washington and the mission manager Andreas Udbye. The members of the delegation were here in India to participate in conference and to develop business relationship with Indian parties under trade and cultural mission to India. Talking to the students of Asian Academy Of Film And Television and Asian School Of Media Studies the Director of the film Mazhar Kamran declared that “unlike its resemblance to the name Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi, the film is a black comedy and derives zero similarity from the patriot. The film is made on a small scale with talented actors like Sonali Kulkarni, Nakul Vaid, Sushant Singh, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Uttam Haldar, Aditya Shrivastav, Akhilendra Mishra and Govind Namdeo who all were present there to interact with the media students.
Sandeep Marwah also informed that the film is made under the banner of Vertika Films Pvt Ltd. and is produced by Abha Sonakia. Sonali Kulkarni disclosed and said “The plot of Mohan Das revolves around a man who is lost in his own country” Sharbani Mukerjee added,”. A full day workshop on the ethics of journalism and how to be a good journalist took place at Marwah Studios organized by the International Film And Television Research Centre in association with Asian School Of Media Studies and Asian Academy Of Film And TV for the working journalist of different News papers and TV channels. Be honest to your profession, journalism needs lots of passion, running a news paper is like a prayer” said Dr Bhisham Narayan Singh, former Union Minister, Government Of India and Former Governer of 7 states of India while inaugurating National Workshop on Journalism. “Honesty pay in life, it is always tough way to success” he added. A large set of colorful paintings are displayed as it is the part of the syllabus of the students of Asian Academy Of Film And Television said Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios who believes that studying paintings is the development of aesthetic sense in the young aspirants trying to be in the film and television trade.

Hollywood Filmmaker Nagendra Karri Released AAFT Publications
Nagendra Karri, the Indian born film maker who owns Eternal Mind Production LLC in New York was recently at Asian Academy of Film And Television to meet the President Sandeep Marwah whom he first met at 62nd Cannes Film Festival. Nagendra went through the whole campus of Marwah Studios and met the students who all were busy with their own productions. ”I am Keen to partner with Marwah Studios for my next venture called “Mobster” which will be shot in multi locales including India, said Karri while releasing the new publications of International Film And Television Research Centre of AAFT.“We have publication Department where we publish books and journals related to film, Television and Media.” said Sandeep Marwah. “Our International Film and Television Research Center is the first research Centre of the country” added Marwah. Later Marwah presented a set of books to the guest of the day.
Marwah informed that Nagendra Karri has announced this new film after the successful debut screening of his first Directorial Venture “Where are you Sophia?” a suspenseful psychological thriller at the recently concluded Cannes Film festival. Karri, who directed, produced and wrote the film at the age of 26, has masters in computer science and electronics and a background in theater. Karri is quite keen in giving opportunity to the Acting and Technical students of AAFT and ASMS in his forth coming film.

With the rising demand of Graphics and Animation business in India the president of Marwah Studios Sandeep Marwah decided to go ahead for the launching in a formal way the school of Graphics and Animation under the banner of Asian Academy of Film And Television [AAFT]. 62nd Cannes Film Festival was the platform for Sandeep Marwah of Marwah Studios to invite German Super Model Claudia Celisa to India .The Indian Pavilion which was the centre of attraction for many activities brought many film makers and film personalities close to each other.

Claudia Ciesla is a German model, actress and singer of Polish descent. Ciesla started modeling at the age of 15 working for shows involved in fashion and dancing. In May 2006 she was selected by Bild as the Football/Soccer Worldcup Girl 2006, and during the World Cup 2006 she was featured on the front page of a total of seven publications of that newspaper.”I am honoured to be part of Marwah Studios, especially the film and TV education which has always impressed me I would love to cast in one of their films.” said Claudia.

In 2007 and again in 2008 she was appearing on the German Internet soap opera Beach House, playing the part of Daisy Vandenburg. In 2008 Claudia Ciesla was in Austria chosen for the Snow Queen 2008. Ciesla is acting in a Bollywood film Karma along with leads Carlucci Weyant, Alma Saraci, and DJ Perry as part of an international film crew to be filmed in India .

In July 2008 Ciesla played the role of CLAUDIA in the new Italian TV-Sitcom "Outsiders in Palermo" shooted in Palermo/Italy.In Aug. 2008 Claudia played the female lead in the German-Indian Film "Ki Jana Pardes" In Aug/Sept Claudia acted in Calcutta, in the role of a German journalist for the Film Directed by "Arin Paul together with award winning film star Soumitra Chatterjee and sang the title song of this movie. The former Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Shahid Mahdi proposed that public broadcasting system without the funding support from the govt should be created in India as a civil society initiative. He was formally inaugurating the 62nd Festival of Short Digital Films of the students of Asian Academy of Film & TV. Lamenting that documentaries are not finding rewards and outlets in the country he said that the viewers need better television and not more television. Reacting to the suggestion from Shahid Mahdi, Director of the Academy Prof Sandeep Marwah announced that AAFT Public Broadcasting System would soon be added to the AAFT Community Radio Project. The former bureaucrat Deo Dutt, noted cardiologist Dr K.K. Aggarwal, film & TV director Gurbir Grewal well known film and television producer Prasan Sinha, CEO of WeCare Foundation Satish Kapoor, Executive Producer of Doordarshan Rajiv Kumar, Philanthropist Satya Bhushan Jain and well known business person Vijay Khanna also shared their thoughts with the students on this occasion.

“The actor has to keep himself fit and intact all the time for the right opportunity,” he emphasised. Shah was there at Marwah Studios to give his shots for the film directed by AS Bedi on a patriotic subject.

“It is our honour that one of the veteran and perfect actor of the Indian film industry, Naseeruddin Shah was here among us to express his ideas on acting.

The feature film Coffee House is ready for release presented by Shivkala Motion Picture in association with Marwah Studios and GTV International, produced by Mahim Mittal, Sandeep Marwah and Krishan Kumar.The film is written and directed by President Award Winner Gurbir Garewal who has written and directed number of Super hit TV serials.

Hollywood film producer Kurt Inderbitzin asserted that the movie making is generally not affected by the economic downturn. The well known Portugal born Director – Cinematographer Joao Ponces De Carvalho was invited by AAFT to conduct lectures for the cinematography students and the budding documentary filmmakers at the school. The talented Director – Cinematographer who conducts classes in Leeds Metropolitan University in UK & Academia de Artes e Tecnologias, Lisbon Portugal was impressed with the training setup for films and TV at AAFT .
He urged the media persons to constantly update and add to their knowledge of the world around them by reading and watching movies and television programmes. Joao Ponces De Carvalho is an avid photographer too. He has published a book on photography which has been widely acclaimed. He has directed and shot the "Seven Seas" International Documentary on underwater marine life.

The global economic meltdown will not impact the entertainment industry, those associated with the sector say."Entertainment is recession-proof. It does well both in good and bad times,' Rajjat A. Barjatya, managing director of production house Rajshri Media, told IANS during Focus 2008, the two-day second annual global entertainment and media summit that began here Monday.
'In fact, there has been an increase in the content consumption during the slowdown, as people want to come out of the economic trauma and turn to entertainment as an escape from reality. Films are escapist and aspiring and that makes them recession-proof." he said.
Barjatya, however, conceded revenues had taken a hit. 'Business-wise, we have seen a drop in our advertisements revenue but not on the content consumption," he said.Added Michael C. Ellis, president and managing director of the Motion Picture Association's Asia Pacific region: "People want to be entertained and despite the meltdown, studios across the world are going to churn out movies for the audience. It is one medium that is cheap and easily accessible and one-stop shop for viewers to escape from their shock of the meltdown. It never suffers.'Citing an example, Ellis said the latest James Bond film, 'Quantum of Solace', broke records over the first weekend in the UK, while 'The Dark Knight' fetched close to $1 billion worldwide.
However, Sandeep Marwah, president of media training institute Asian Academy of Film and Television, believes 'there has to be some obvious cost-cutting' 'But the profits won't get affected and in fact will be up. Whatever may be the situation, people will turn to the medium as a breather,' he said. "To talk about the Indian entertainment industry, it is going to double itself by 2012 and will touch the Rs.100,000 crore (Rs.1 trillion) mark business-wise."

AAFT LENDS SUPPORT TO INDIAN BLIND SPORTS ASSOCIATION
 
A philanthropist and a public spirited director of Asian Academy of Film & Television Sandeep Marwah has offered all possible help and support to the Blind Relief Association. With 125 institutions and sports organizations from 23 states affiliated to it Indian Blind Sports Association is the largest national level sports body devoted to the promotion of sports among the visually challenged in the country. The Association was established in April 1986 through the initiative of the Blind Relief Association, Delhi (BRA), a premier organization for the blind in India. The objective was to promote national-level sports activities for the blind. The Association is recognized by the Indian Olympic Association and affiliated to the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA). The organization has been promoting long-jump, javelin, shot-put, marathon, judo, swimming and now football amongst the visually challenged person with a passion for one or more of these sports. Incidentally, the football for the blind is played with a ball with jingles on a specially prepared field. Ten teams from the Indian states of Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal recently participated in the 4th Indian Blind Sports Association Football Tournament for the Blind held at New Delhi. The finals of this tournament was covered by the AAFT sports production team with a view to creating awareness of the initiative taken in this regard by the Blind Relief Association, amongst the public at large.

Veteran journalist, prolific writer and a former member of parliament Santosh Bhartiya said the next generation journalists will have to acquire a good command over Hindi language to do their work in India notwithstanding the emergence of English as the link language across the globe. He was addressing the students of Asian Academy of Film & Television on the inauguration of 61st batch. He further said that Traditional journalism in the fast changing world too has also to appropriately change. Decrying the tendency to sensationalize the news and Prof. Sandeep Marwah said that media must play a meaningful role in building a happy, healthy and balanced Indian society. In his address the renowned Hollywood stunt-actor Colin Handley who has been invited to conduct a workshop, spelled out his recipe for success. Passion, knowledge and skills for the work are required by an aspiring artist to succeed, he added. Tracing his entry into Hollywood the fight choreographer of popular TV serial Baywatch Colin Handley said that he is happy that stunt are increasingly being recognized by the filmmakers and Bollywood too is now producing more and more action films. Talented and celebrated Israeli director David Ofek was recently invited to conduct a workshop on screen presentation for the students of Asian Academy of Film and Television. In his opening remarks on this occasion Prof Sandeep Marwah described Israel as a culturally vibrant and technologically advanced nation. Theatre has traditionally been a part of social and cultural life of the people of Israel, he added. Lucidly explaining the art of telling a story or conveying a message with moving pictures and sound David Ofek a graduate of Jerusalem film School said that most of the films are narrative films and their makers are the narrator. Sandeep Marwah & David Ofek He described fiction as a presentation which is mandated to make the viewer imagine and to believe that the events in it are true. He stated that a documentary like a fictional film is a product of film maker’s specific intention of guiding or persuading the viewer’s perception of the world. International Film and Television Club, in association with Asian Academy of Film & Television recently hosted an exhibition of paintings of the Nationally acclaimed artist and muralist Deepa Seth Bhando at the Marwah Films and Video Studios in Noida.
The exhibition was inaugurated by ace Bollywood personality Wg. Cdr. A S Bedi with the Former President of Noida entrepreneurs association and managing editor,Models and Trends,Anoop Bhandari as another guest of honour.Speaking on the occasion, Wg. Cdr. Bedi complimented the passionate zeal of IFTC chairperson, Prof Sandeep Marwah, for promoting all forms of art at the first available opportunity and showered the well deserved praise Deepa's speaking landscapes of the Himalayas so opulently inviting. Anoop Bhandari compared the exhibition to a book and each painting to the individual article of the magazine.
The theme of the exhibition, exclaimed Deepa, " Was to highlight the beauty and mystique's of the giant Himalayas. In all, about a dozen and a half of some of Deepa's best paintings were up on the walls for for this show that also became a launch pad for study of various media courses by the 59th batch of AAFT opened recently.
Thanking all the guests, Prof Marwah said that he had felt proud to be part of Deepa's show explaining in his unique style how the two forms of making films or TV programs and paintings; that do not move but yet speak with the same powerful force were so well inter-related.

The creative geniuses and performing artistes in the making at INIFD and AAFT worked hard to recently organize ADAA’ 08 The Fashion show of Gennext at Marwah Studios Complex in Noida Film City. While the INIFD students showcased their designs under contemporary, ethnic and creative categories, the students of AAFT participated as models in a largely attended glittering ramp show. Admiring the work of the students of the two renowned institutes Prof. Sandeep Marwah said that the dress makes or mars the appearance of a person and the offices and residences must not only meet the functional requirements but they should also be aesthetically pleasing. He commended the good work being done at INIFD to hone the skills of budding fashion designers and interior decorators. Ms. Jyoti Khera, Centre Director said that she is happy that the two elite institutes could bring out the talent in open.

With the view of keeping the relationship strong and expanding the learning boundaries between the two esteemed institutions, a group of 13 students from Winchester University visited AAFT under the student exchange program. The group is here to make two of their graduation films with AAFT.

Film Educators Educate People about Disability through Films
 
The major creed that India looks up to is films today. It believes what is shown and is rapt by the glamour. Films like “Taare zameen Par” leave their mark and a message so clear, that it’s our responsibility to bridge the gap between the upbringing of our kids & special kids. Keeping this in mind the biggest institution that has provided the media industry with 5000 media professionals, Asian Academy of Film & Television attempted to bring awareness on Disability through WeCare Film Festival. AAFT along with Brotherhood, an organization run by Satish Kapoor is working for several years intended for the welfare of the disabled, organized this festival to create awareness about people with various disabilities and how to help them become independent. The festival Received 47 films from all over the world, out of which four films of 1 min were previewed at the opening. “Media is a very powerful medium of communication. In India, films are the best channel to create awareness about disability.” said Sandeep Marwah, Director AAFT, who was present on the occasion as the guest of honor along with H.E. Mr. Mark Sofer , Ambassador, Embassy of Israel ,Subodh Lal, Film Educator, Dr. Sundeep Khanna, Addl. Sec. Asian Academy of Film & Television maintain its tradition of promoting Art, whether Film & television or Painting. It has given opportunities to many artistes via MEC Art Gallery. Sandeep Marwah , Director AAFT, inaugurated yet another painting exhibition as a guest of honor along with Chief Minister of Delhi Sheila Dixit in a recent event held at The Experimental art Gallery.

The Paintings based on the beauty of Himalayas & Nature were the works of the renowned artist Deepa Seth who is a Post Graduate in fine Arts. Sandeep Marwah found this exhibition unique and said,” These paintings are so authentic that each one of them takes me closer to Nature.” Adding up to the praise Shiela Dixit said that artist has shown the Nature beautifully. The occasion had generals from the Indian army with some other well known personalities.
 
AAFT JOIN HANDS WITH ACADEMY OF ARTS, USA

A Premiere Art and Media Academy of USA, The Academy of Art University joined hands with the Premiere Art and Media Academy of India, Asian Academy of Film & Television. With the visit of delegates from the Academy of Art University, Ms. Mia Kim & Ms. Sori Kim, an abiding rapport between two pioneer media educators was strengthen.
The two delegates came to India just to visit the Academy whose applause they have been listening back in USA. Impressed by the infrastructure and the quality of training given by the Academy, Ms. Mia Kim & Ms. Sori Kim spoke to the students about how difficult the media training is and that they were in the right place. Mr. Sandeep Marwah thanked the two respected ladies and offered them with the life membership of International Film & Television Club.

WORKSHOP OF CREATIVE WRITING WITH DR. RAMAN K. SINGH
A Product of Masters from Michigan University and a Doctor in Literature from Purdue University, Dr. Raman .K Singh took a workshop on Creative writing with the Students of AAFT. Already a visiting faculty with Virginia University and a writer, he had just finished writing a script named ‘OPPA’ for Famous Hollywood producer Elliott Castner, who has given hit films like, Where the Eagles Dare, The Night of the Following Day, Man, Woman and Child, Sweet November and many more…Talking to students at length, the writer gave students the modus operandi for scriptwriting.He also organized a premiere for his movie at the Campus as a part of the workshop. Students were glad to have such an eminent personality as their Professor.

58th  Batch Inaugurated by Sanjay kapoor

Sanjay kapoor, The Renowned Cine Star, dazzled the inaugural ceremony of 58th batch of Asian Academy of Film & Television with his presence recently. The star shared his experiences both good & bad which he came across during his career. After the ceremony, he wished students good luck and said that it’s the hard work put in which pays at the end of the day. Talking about films at length with students, Sanjay Kapoor said that only those can survive who has passion for Media and that is what AAFT injects into you. He also added ,’’I am happy to note that now AAFT is the 3rd biggest Film Schools in the world as far as enrolment is concerned.
 
Reflections of an Artist
Dorothea Nurnberg, an illustrious writer from Austria visited AAFT. Famous for writing plays, prose and numerous literary contributions for art projects and Austrian radio, the writer was invited by the Director, Mr.Sandeep Marwah for interacting with students of AAFT and giving them inspiration. the life of a bollywood actor and an Indian author. The writer who herself is inspired by bollywood, motivated the students of AAFT by letting them know how Bollywood films are appreciated by the world and they must work hard to be a part of it. The seminar on scriptwriting was followed by a formal function on the release of the book .
 
When two countries met...
A Delegation from Pakistan and a famous advocate Awias shiekh visited AAFT for the release of his book “Samjhota Express” by Sandeep Marwah, Director, AAFT & ASMS. Expressing his gratitude towards Sandeep Marwah for showing so much of love and respect for him, the Advocate said that the book and his visit is just one step towards the friendship between two nations.

After a formal function for the release of the book he was invited my Mr. Marwah to bless the students and inaugurate the first production of the session. The inauguration was held in a traditional Indian manner which the Pakistani advocate enjoyed. He said that it was the most joyous day of his life and he will be a frequent visitor to Marwah studios from now.
 
Modern day Traditions!

In the modern day life, our ethnicity still seem to be deep rooted within our hearts .While we dance on the modern tunes, folk music and Bhajans bring us peace. In an attempt to bring peace Mr. Sandeep Marwah released a CD of devotional compositions; ‘Traditions I’. A Rendezvous with Renowned writer from Hollywood

Catherine Ann Jones, an award winning playwright and screenwriter visited Marwah studios recently. Some of her award winning film include ‘ The Christmas Wife nominated for the best picture and best writing, Unlikely Angel , Angel Passing which went on to win fifteen awards in festivals all over the world. During her visit,the writer guided students of AAFT & ASMS on scriptwriting, narrated some of her works and taught them the art of writing. Taking everyone in her stride the writer even spoke to the faculty of AAFT & ASMS.Sandeep Marwah hanked her for sharing her experience with the young film makers.

Heartthrob of  Millions  M. S.  Dhoni at Marwah Studios

Dhoni fever filled Marwah studios when famous cricketer M.S. Dhoni visited studios for a shoot. Cricket fans were all going gaga over the young dynamic cricketer. When asked about the secret of the success, he said he believed in God and his powers. On this occasion he was requested to launch a spiritual music Cd on Shirdi Sai baba produced by Sandeep Marwah and composed by Mahinder pal. Dhoni stated the importance of spirituality in our day to day life which he himself believes in and he also emphasized that spirituality and all the religions believe in one thing that is’ Humanity.’ The occasion was breathtaking and incredible.

Deakin University join hands with AAFT
AAFT and Deakin University, Australia instigated a student exchange program. A group of four students from Deakin University visited AAFT under this program. The group was fascinated on seeing the infrastructure and the state- of- art equipment and realized that it was no less than the universities abroad. They learned about the Indian cinema and how films are made in India. They had a day long interaction programme with the Course Director Prof. Harsh Vardhan during this visit.

Talk on Global Festival of Films on Peace & Spirituality
AAFT & Universal Peace Federation organized a session for peace talk at Marwah studios complex. The session which included Dr.Robert Kittel, Director India, UPF, Ursula Mclackland, Sectretary general, South Asia, UPF, Mr. E. Rajan, Former Ambassador of India, Mrs. Rajan renowned social worker, Prof. Kalyan Sarkar, Ass.Dean AAFT and Mr. Sandeep Marwah expressed their views to the large audience of AAFT & ASMS.Describing this Festival as a golden opportunity E Rajan invited Film makers of the world to participate in this Festival. Dr. Robert Kittel brought UpTV as one of the sponsors for spreading the message of peace and spirituality.

AAFT Drama Club
National School of Drama Director Devendra Raj Ankur inaugurated The first Drama Club of AAFT. Talking to students of Acting at length, Mr. Ankur shared some of his learning experiences at National School of Drama. He gave students a gist of necessary elements of acting and also told them how acting for Theatre, Television and Films is different. Stimulated by the session, the students had many queries allied to the topic, which were patiently answered by Mr. Ankur. Prof. Ankur disclosed to the students about the vast experience of theatre Sandeep Marwah possess during his theatre days, where a popular team consisting of Raj Babbar, Nadira Babbar, Pankaj Kapoor, Nina Gupta, Anupam Kher, Vijay Kashyap , Dolly Kapoor etc. gave some of the best plays to the nation.

Prof. Sandeep Marwah addressed the MBA students and congratulated the whole group which was selected from the campus itself by different organizations approached by the institution. Reminding them of their duties, Prof. T.S Bedi repeated what was taught to them during the course. Students thanked the institution for providing them in house placement and giving them a chance to prove their worth in the industry.

On a Friendly visit to Marwah studios, The Ambassadors of Peru Carlos .A Irigoyen was besieged to see the brilliant training provided by AAFT & ASMS to the young film makers. The state of Art equipment and the location compelled the ambassador to join hands with Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Director AAFT & ASMS. Congratulating Mr.Marwah on the awe-inspiring job, the ambassador started a joint venture with marwah studios. Dr. Kaushik Gaur from U.K. representing the University of West Coast, Panama visited AAFT recently. Highly impressed by the quality training provided by AAFT and the endless efforts of Mr. Sandeep Marwah in the field of Film & Television education & training, Dr. Gaur announced an honorary Doctorate degree for Mr. Marwah. He added that the infrastructure, the state of art equipment and the dedicated faculty shows the class training that AAFT provides. Mr. Sandeep Marwah thanked Dr.Gaur on his kind gesture and said that it is his religion to give the best of training possible to his students. He also added that even after 15 years of giving thorough training, he has the same zest in him and will keep on doing his best.

Director, ASMS & AAFT handed over the responsibility of Peace on the shoulders of the Young generation by making all the students of AAFT & ASMS the Youth Ambassadors of Peace. Mr. Kim believed that the message of peace can be well spread by the new generation; they have their own meaning and means of communicating. Finding the occasion to be the right one Mr. Sandeep Marwah announced Global festival of Films on peace & Spirituality by explaining to all that by the way of the most famous means of communication ‘Films’ , the young film makers can spread the message globally. Global Opening of a Global Event
Global Festival of Films on Peace and Spirituality finally came into light. The Curtain raising ceremony of the Global event experienced a serene afternoon, reminding Indians of their own culture were the two Americans coming from Japan for the concert In AAFT and scheduled towards Europe... The couple Manuel and Bernice Roberto being great musicians, and extremely inspired by the Indian Culture and mythology... were seen deeply devoted to Lords Ram and Krishan... Chanting Sanskrit shlokas and Hindi bhajans, the couple made the atmosphere devout and pious. Spreading the message of peace through bhakti, they motivated the audience which included Top media personalities and ambassadors of peace and a large audience comprising of media students from different schools.
The one hour divine concert was not only a curtain raiser of the Global Festival of Films on Peace & Spirituality but also it opened eyes on the true meaning of spirituality. Both the guests were enchanted to see the effect of the bhajans on the students. Mr. Sandeep Marwah describing the event as truly Global said that it was beyond doubt an auspicious way to start an event.

Under the Indo-Welsh student exchange program, the second team that visited AAFT included Sound and music composition tutor Paschall de Paor (from the Creative and Cultural Industries faculty of the University of Glamorgan) with Carl Boland and Divakar Subranamiam, The Phd students from University of Glamorgan. Pascall de Paor was happy to see the state of Arts Audio studio & Equipments at Marwah studios. The three member team composed some incredible music with the musicians from AAFT which possibly will be included in the short films made by the students. The elite style of music composing inspired the students of AAFT .Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Director; AAFT & ASMS presented lifetime membership of International Film and Television Research centre to the Professor which elated the atmosphere even more.

Director of Films like Chaalbaaz, Inteqaam, Tumko na bhool payenge and the latest traditional Banaras – A mystic Love story, Pankaj Parashar visited Marwah studios for a comprehensive conversation with the students on Filmmaking. All the films that he made touched diverse topics altogether, with so much of variations in his ideas the director had a lot of things in store for the young film makers. Pankaj Parashar during his chat shared with students not only his know-how but also what was missing in the current phase of filmmaking. He said he had lot of expectations with the young film makers and also expressed his gladness on the quality of training provided by AAFT.

An Intellectual Professor’s Visit From Newport University, Wales to AAFT
Professor Philip Cowan Film maker and Professor of International Film School from Newport University Wales was invited by Prof. Sandeep Marwah for a meticulous interaction session with the Post Graduation students. The first week of the session integrated the exchange of ideas between cinema of U.K. and cinema of India, which was conversant for not only the students but also for the professor himself.The second week of session was mainly into studying cinematography as Prof. Philip Cowan is a connoisseur at this subject. The students got to learn the insights of cinema and took full note of this rare opportunity. The session was a huge success.
 

Welsh Film Students visit AAFT under INDO-WALES First Exchange

The first ever Indo-Wales film student exchange program was completed with Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) to gain first hand experience of India’s dynamic film industry. The students from Wales who attended this first exchange were: Vivien Muller Rommel, Producer, Paul Allen, Writer-Director, Nick Booth, Cinematographer, Benjamin Brundle, Sound Recordist, Sam Bees, Lead actor representing University of Gilamorgan, Newport University and Royal welsh Institute. Being their first visit to India all the five students were enthralled by the beauty and Culture of India. They exclaimed that India was even more beautiful that what they have read and known about. Their appreciation and fondness for the country’s culture could be seen in the 10 mins Film “INDIAN BOYO” which was made along with the support of AAFTians Amit Malhotra, Anuj Gera, Sidharth Tiwari as Assistant Directors and Sumit,as an Actor in the film. The film is produced by Sandeep Marwah, Director AAFT & ASMS in association with Skillset screen academy, Wales sponsored by International Business Wales.
 
ASMS SHORT DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL

Asian School of Media studies in Association with IFTC conducted second Festival of short Digital films in its campus. The Films produced by Mr. Sandeep Marwah, Director of AAFT & ASMS, reflected the quality of training provided by the esteemed institution. The honorable guest among the function were Mr.Shahid Mehndi Former vice chancellor, Dr.Aziz Burney from Sahara, Mr.A.K Rastogi President All India cable Association, Mr Beni Prasad Aggrawal Former Ambassador, Dr. Brijesh Bhatia Media Reseacher who obliged the function with their benign presence.
The guests were stimulated after watching the films. Mr. Shahid Mehndi exclaimed that the films made on social issues were inspirational; the guests congratulated Mr.Sandeep Marwah for the Quality training he is providing the students. The selected films not only gave students an insight into the art of film making but also gave them an opportunity to learn from their own work... The festival gave the new batch of students a mirror image of techniques of films made in Marwah studios.
The audience including the guests of honor, media and the students were full of praises for the films and especially the topics covered by the students.

A Visit into Gandhian Era
An afternoon in the premises of Marwah studios looked back into.The times of The Father Of the Nation “Mahatma Gandhi”. The Director of the film Gandhi My Father, Feroz Abbas Khan’s visit brought out the patriotic feeling in the students of ASMS and AAFT. The interaction session saw the enthusiasm and zest of the students for their country and its history. The discussion went about for an hour popping out many interesting questions from students. Feroz Abbas Khan shared his experience and also his research work with the students. Sandeep Marwah, Director ASMS & AAFT said that it is very important for the students to have a patriotic feeling and a good knowledge about their country and its history in order to become a successful film maker. Marwah was quite happy to add that Gurmeet Singh and six other Alumni of AAFT worked as Chief Asst. Directors of the Film.
 
The Star Cast Of the Film “Budha Margaya” With the Students Of AAFT & ASMS.
Marwah studios experienced a star stud afternoon recently. The Programme, which saw the Bollywood biggies like Anupam Kher, Om Puri , Renowned Film director Rahul Rawail and the stunning siren Rakhi saawant with producer Rohit kumar, was organized to have an Interactive session with students of AAFT & ASMS. The campus grounds were flooded with media; all the channels were striving hard just to get a glimpse of the stars. Not to the overlook, the students of AAFT & ASMS were overwhelmed by having a face to face discussion with the stars. The stars had a detailed discussion with the students as to how film industry works and they also talked about their upcoming film “Budha Mar Gaya”.The Director of AAFT & ASMS, Mr. Sandeep Marwah, said that it is very important for students to have an interaction with stars like this one so that they get a clear idea about the film industry and its norms and this is the reason AAFT have regular interactive sessions.

Yash chopra productions bring yet another miraculous experience for the viewers with the heartthrob Shahrukh Khan, CHAKDE! India. Directed by Shimit Amin the film throws light into the life of the girl’s hockey team and its dedicated coach Shahrukh. Working hard towards making the movie a hit, amongst the crew, were two bright students of Asian School of media studies, Ambica Setia and Vikas Singh as Production Assistants. The pass outs of MA in Cinema were thrilled to work with the big banner and Shahrukh. Asian school of media studies congratulate and wish its students a very best for the future.

AAFT Hosts First Peru Film Festival on the eve of 186th Independence Day Anniversary of Peru.

AAFT proudly hosted a splendor event in its campus on a recent weekend. The event was hosted to venerate 186th Anniversary of the Peru’s Independence by organizing a Peruvian Film Festival which showed some of the Award winning films like Dias De Santiago directed by Josue Mendez with Tinta Roja and Ojos Que No Ven. It is needless to say that AAFT provided the ideal ambience for the Festival. Making the event dazzling and vivacious The Director of AAFT Mr. Sandeep Marwah himself participated in the reverential event and proudly exclaimed that the event gave the trainees of AAFT and ASMS not only an exposure to the Peruvian art of film making but also inculcated in them the patriotic feeling by this gracious event.
The event saw who’s who of Delhi and NCR on this weekend .All the guests which included the Top media personalities, socialities and corporate biggies returned excited and stimulated.

A pass out of 34th batch of Asian Academy of Films & Television, Gurmeet Singh has indeed carved a niche for himself in world of films and art in a short span of time. Some of the excellent movies, where Gurmeet has made a mark as an Assistant Director or Editor and done AAFT proud include names like Let's Enjoy(2003), Chai Pani Etc(2003), Ramji London Wale(2004), Gandhi My Father(2005), Don(2006), Jodha Akbar(2006-2007) and Nisshabad - Reading Silence.
Gurmeet's contributions in banners like Jodha Akbar and Gandhi My Father as a Chief Assistant have finally catapulted him in the league of super performers and AAFT wishes him far greater success in the years ahead.
 
INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF 56TH BATCH
AAFT inaugurated the 56th batch recently. The event began with the tradition of lighting the lamp and expressing gratitude towards the Deity. Despite the completion of the golden batch, the opening saw the same gusto as ever. The Director of AAFT, Mr. Sandeep Marwah, addressed the students along with the esteemed guests Mrs. Malti Sahai Adviser- Indira Gandhi centre for arts, Mr. Gurbeer S. Grewal renowned Film and T.V director and Mr. Anup Bhandari Chief Editor Magazine Models Trends. The guests appreciated Asian Academy of Film and Television for the awe-inspiring training it offers to its students and congratulated Mr. Sandeep Marwah for his never ending dedication towards the academy. AAFT hosts meet to fight terrorism

Sandeep MarwahEk aur ek gyarah, an event aimed at uniting India through eliminating terrorism was recently hosted by AAFT in its premises in association with AB Fans Foundation, Mumbai. T he event took opportunity to pay homage to the victims of last year's 7/11 serial train blasts in Mumbai by observing two minutes silence in the beginning. Chairman of the AIATF, M S Bitta was the chief guest for the event together with Col V N Thapar, Flt Lt J P Sharma and Smt Sudesh Sharma, the proud parents of Noida's valiant martyrs Capt Vijayant Thapar and Capt Shashi Kant Sharma, Irfan Khan, Prashant Mastan, Shivanand Chand, Chief Advisory Committee, President and General Secretary of the ABFF, as the other distinguished guests of honour. Addressing the audience, Shri Bitta exhorted upon the members present to inculcate a spirit of patriotism in the younger generations of the nation. Director AAFT/ASMS Prof Sandeep Marwah said that the cinema is a potent medium for strengthening the spirit of patriotism in the country and expressed full hope that his students shall utilize the same for achieving the same.Others, who addressed the gathering included Prof T S Bedi,Col Thapar, Flt Lt Sharma, Irfan Shaikh, Shivanand and P Mastan.
